Bio

An East Coast transplant, David Dieni has performed music from classical to jazz, rock and theater for over twenty five years. He received his Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory and Masters in Percussion from the San Francisco Conservatory.

He served as principal percussionist with the Napa Symphony for two years and assistant principal with both the Sacramento Philharmonic and Stockton Symphony for seven years. He’s currently percussionist with the California Pops Orchestra and timpanist with the Golden Gate Park Band. He has been fortunate to perform with the likes of Luciano Pavarotti, Dave Brubeck, Carol Channing and Judy Collins.

As a theater percussionist, recent shows include La Cage Aux Folles with Broadway By The Bay, Evita at the Lesher Center for the Arts, Jacques Brel at the Marin Theatre Company, Into The Woods at CTA Crossroads Theatre, Ruthless the Musical with the California Cabaret.

In 2011, Mr. Dieni was part of a team that worked on a new, revised edition of George Stone’s seminal work, Accents and Rebounds. The team included the likes of Danny Gottlieb and John Riley. The updated Accents and Rebounds is set for release on Alfred in March 2012.

Mr. Dieni has recorded for Koch International on the Ursala LeGuin/Eli Armer collaboration, Uses of Music in Uttermost Parts, and is a recipient of a Meet the Composer grant for his own music.
